HIMHERANDIT Production and LGBTQ+Slænget are looking for Roommates who want to help realize this year's GenderHouse Festival.
Roomates is what we have named our festival volunteers. Our volunteers are the ones bringing life to the GenderHouse, by inhabiting, sharing it and making it a home, both for all our international artist and audiences visiting the festival.
Being a Roommate means you become part of a community that socializes and work together, with the common goal of supporting the festivals activities and having fun while doing it.
What you will take part in
The GenderHouse Queer Arts Festival is an art festival organized by HIMHERANDIT Productions, taking place in Aarhus every other year. This year, we are opening up the third edition of the festival, under the theme JUSTICE - JUST THIS, from May 27th to 30th. Here, you can look forward to a packed four-day program, with a plethora of artistic experiences that break norms, boundaries, and our everyday thinking. The stage is handed over to marginalized voices and perspectives from exceptional international artists. You can expect stories from, with, and about queers, LGBTQIA+, feminism, POC, Indigenous people, neurodivergents, and visible and invisible functional variations. Nobody’s free until everybody’s free.
This year, we have invited Aarhus' own volunteer association LGBTQ+Slænget into the festival, to host and create the social program around the festival's artistic experiences. They embrace the festival, providing us with new meeting places, new insights, and new acquaintances, with a wide range of events where the social aspect is key. The events primarily take place at Headquarters, where Slænget creates a fun and warm safe space for the festival's guests and the community in Aarhus, with events ranging from boardgame nights to drag performances, and of course, the festival's closing party on Thursday night.
What to expect as a roomate
A festival of this size cannot be realized alone, which is why we are looking for you, who want to be part of our GenderHouse family and help create an amazing festival, with four days of celebrating queer art and community.
As a Roommate during the GenderHouse Festival, you will meet tasks such as meeting and greeting international artists and assist them with their performances, setting up, hosting, and cleaning up at social events and assisting audiences, such as ticket checks and guidance. And generally make the festival even better with your presence!
As a Roommate, you become part of our GenderHouse Family and besides being part of an amazing community, you will have free access to the entire festival program.
Worried about having enough time to join? Don’t stress, we know a lot of people have a busy schedule, with studies, exams and work. There are plenty of tasks, spread out on the four days, both in the daytime and evenings, so there is plenty of opportunities to support in an amount that fits your schedule. All hands are welcome!
